Denver CO (March 24th, 2016 ) March race events resulted in eight NASA/Élan NP01 race cars on track at a variety of locations across the U.S. As of this date, nearly 20 cars or kits have been delivered and of those, 12 have been completed their build process and have seen track time either in race conditions or for testing.
The first NASA Prototype Pacific Series at Willow Springs saw the entries of Jeremy Croiset, Richard Gray and the Team Stoptech entry with Andy Lee at the helm. Two Pacific Series entries of CLP Motorsports and Kemper Racing, which both competed at the December 25 Hours of Thunderhill, were unable to attend due to other prior commitments.
On that same weekend, four NP01 entries were found at Motorsports Ranch Cresson near Ft. Worth Texas. The three cars of Matt Rivard (Kansas City, MO), Jay Fagner (Plano, TX) and Dave Balingit (Denver, CO) were still in their factory black gel-coat as all three team worked down to the last minute to have their cars on track for the event. Bobby Butler (Houma, LA), rounded out the field.
Warren Sackman of Sands Point, NY attended a race event at Road Atlanta for it’s initial weekend shakedown. Matt Rivard competed in back to back weekends and also attended the NASA GreatLakes event at the NCM race facility in Bowling Green, KY.
In addition to the race events, several newly completed Élans took to the track for their initial shakedown test and tune sessions.
